My artwork has evolved from my work as a professional woodworker and cabinet maker. I paint with artist-quality acrylics on wood panels which are carved with high-speed routers. I employ bold use of color and uninhibited and expressive lines to create movement, while maintaining a highly refined sense of balance. My compositions range from realism to fully abstract, with the majority of my paintings being semi-abstract with a deeper message I wish to convey to the viewer.

Many of my paintings originate in a fundamental truth about human experience, such as the importance of attending to the value of time, cultivating patience with the work of transformation, or the struggle to come to terms with impermanence. My intention is to give joyous and lighthearted expression to some of life’s most sobering truths. By carving my wooden canvasses, I have borrowed from my skills as a woodworker and furniture maker to create greater depth and add a tactile quality to my work.
